Hello, I'm José Pedro Viudez and I'm the translator of this first week, now I'm going to continue with the explanation of the main topics of this week:
THE FIVE CORE TERMS:
-Framework: a framework is a structure used for supporting the basis of something that is being constructed, applied to the topic of education, it would be a set of assumptions, knowledge, values, and beliefs that constitute a determined way of viewing reality.
-TPACK: it is a framework that considers that effective teaching (the one which produces greater learning results in the children) is achieved only by a combination of factors, the content knowledge (knowledge about the contents that should be transmitted to the students), the pedagogical knowledge (knowledge about strategies and ways to teach in the most effective way), and technological knowledge (knowledge about the new technologies and its educational advantages). By using the TPACK framework, all these dimensions are integrated.
-ACAD: it is a framework that considers three main dimensions of teacher competence, which are: set design, which makes reference to the place or physical space in which the learning is being placed, the epistemic design, referring to the activities that should be proposed to the students; and the social design, which is the social configuration that would work better for the students to learn.
-Information map: it is a way of organizing information in a structured form to express it in a focused and clear way. The information maps can take many forms such as diagrams or mind maps.
-Speed learning: it is a method of teaching used for reducing the amount of time needed for learning some content without reducing considerably the understanding and comprehension about that topic.
WEAKNESSES OF THE TOPIC:
In this case, we have to pay attention to the two frameworks reviewed during this week. I think that despite all the advantages, the TPACK and ACAD frameworks aren't perfect. First of all, the main weakness of the two of them that I can see is the assumption made by them that these frameworks themselves are the only ways of achieving effective learning in the kids and that without them it cant be achieved.
Focusing firstly on the TPACK framework, we believe that it is not specific enough to guide teachers. It provides a first look in the competencies that a teacher should know how to integrate without establishing exactly what contents rely on inside those competencies, which can be a source of indecision and misunderstanding for the ones who are going to put it into practice.
Lastly, regarding the ACAD, there is also a similar failure, that is the lack of explanation about what to do after implementing the basis of what it establishes.
In order to solve these problems, we believe that those frameworks should be more detailed and explicit in terms of what to do in the most regular situations, what are the steps that teachers should follow for its correct implementation, and propose alternatives or ideas in the case of the appearance of some difficulties.
