Analyst week 5馃槑

Hi again, everybody! I am Mar铆a and this week I occupy the role of analyst.

In this task, we have discovered aspects that we never thought could be used when introducing technologies in class or, perhaps we thought about them but never fell into creating a method to decide which technological applications to use and which not until this week.

  • In the first place, we made a selection of 9 applications and filled in rubrics scoring each one of them. This part was complicated, since there were some sections in which we did not know what the words in Spanish meant and others in which the explanation provided was quite vague. It was quite a challenge from which we learned a lot!
  • Secondly, we did what was (from our point of view) the most interesting part of the activity; We discussed in class what we thought of the task so far and we answered a series of questions that our star shared with the class. In these questions we were asked questions such as what had been the most difficult criterion to access, what aspect had surprised us the most, what was the most important criterion for us as students and what would be the most important for us as teachers...
  • After this session in which each group gave its opinion, we developed a classification method to use as a tool for the teacher in future sessions.

OUR METHOD.

We have 8 categories which are as follows: 1) privacy, teaching presence, cognitive, accessibility, functionally, social presence, mobile design and technical.

We group them into three categories ordered from most to least important:

  • 1st category, is the most important and therefore we give it 2.5 stars. In it we find teaching presence, cognitive and social presence.
  • 2nd category, which has 2 stars: privacy, mobile design and technical.
  • 3rd category with 1.5 stars: accessibility and functionality.

Once we have scored each category, we have to add them all up and see how many stars we have finally obtained.

I: It's not what you were looking for. You need to find another tool.

II: It's useful but it has a lot of bugs and doesn't give you much freedom.

III. It works fine but it's hard to understand.

IV. It's a well app but there’s something to improve.

V. It works well, it is difficult to understand and it has instructions that make you master it quickly. It is the perfect app for both teachers and students.

Regarding the organization of the group this week, I think it has gone quite well; we decided together which applications we were going to evaluate with the rubric. While some randomly distributed the applications that were later going to be evaluated, The rest filled out google questionnaires.

I think that as a group we work well but we should improve by taking more into account the suggestions of the rest since many times there are ideas that may not be the best but can be applied by making some changes to them and not omitting them completely. We should all feel the beautiful feeling that an idea of that project has been yours.

For us, the best part of the week has been realizing that perhaps something that seems simple at first glance, like choosing a digital tool, may not be so, since many things should be taken into account in order to choose it.

Thanks for reading us!!

See you next week馃憢馃挜
