Journalist week 7

Welcome everyone to our blog one week more!! I’m María and it’s a pleasure to me starting to say that my team and I are so happy to do this for you all. This is our 8th week writing this blog, and as you can see, this week I repeat the journalist role. 

The task of the week consisted on recording a podcast. Do you know what a podcast is? It´s likes a radio program. There are people who speak about interesting things and you can listen their conversation where and how you want. On that case, we had to speak about exploring tasks with digitals computational thinking and coding during 8-15 minutes. 

The first thing we did was planning who we were to organize our work´s week. We learned the task and underline the most important things to take into account, distribute the roles and last but not least we start to explore the page “hour of code”. From that page we had to choose 3 activities: the first had to be for poor or not internet conditions, the second had to have relation with no computer and devices and in the third, the classification was under our election. We decided to use …. 

For the first activity we decided to work a very important part of the curriculum which is the Solar System. We thought that it could be a very good form of introduce to our students on that topic because traditionally they have to memorize it without understanding at all. And, from our point of view, this is not learning. 

The second activity was about create a phrase and put the words of it in a card. This words wee incomplete so you have to complete these letter and create the phrase properly. This activity can be related with the majority of subjects because you can create the phrase that you want and they must complete it.

The third activity consist on a monster that have to avoid the obstacles. With this activity the kids learn, among other things, to receive instructions and a lot of vocabulary. 

Once that we play to all the activities we answer the questions from the task and then, we start to plan our podcast. We have never do a podcast, so it was a real challenge for us. At first we did a mind map with the most important points that have to appear on it. Which were: 

1) The introduction (good morning, the weather…)

2) We create the advertisement.

3) We wrote the interview with all the questions that we would do to the star of another group (we didn’t know the group until that session of recording)

4) we talk about our experience using this three activities. 

5) We did a reflection about that type of learning methods. 

6) We conclude our podcast saying good bye. 

It was a very interesting activity that my team and I face up with a lot of enthusiasm. We recommend you to see the study buddies work because they did a really well job.
