TRANSLATOR WEEK 9



Hi to every ICT readers!! I’m María and in this pre-last activity we have been working with the concept of Teaching competence for a digital world. As you know, in the last decades, technology has become more important and useful in our day to day. We use it for everything, also to work. And for that reason, we have to take it into account if we want to be experts in our teaching. The most important concepts of the week are the following:


  • Reflection: The reflection process is too important for we as a teachers because it can helps to improve our teaching in many different ways innovating, creating or transforming the traditional practices or what is the same, is like a bridge who bring you the opportunity to construct knowledge,skills and attitudes. Mixed technology with reflection makes the investigation procedure more accurate in all the stages of the research process. 


  • Research: This concept has relation with the previous one because teachers are also researchers who have to reflect on and in their action. We can take the advantage of research in many different fields of education such as design, development or evaluation, also to giving solutions to the problems which can be very useful for the rest of the teaching community. 


  • TPACK: is a mixture of the technology, pedagogic and content knowledge that we use to create a different teaching and learning space. Teachers must be experts in their subjects and command all the content but they also have to link it with the knowledge of the students. If you combine the subject knowledge with the awareness of the technology and how to help the students, you will also developed the perfect TPACK framework to incorporate ICT and achieve a meaningful learning. 


  • Personal Learning Environment (PLE). The PLE includes the resources, attitudes and facts that conditioning learning. Is like a balance between which is used individually, populated by others and those collective knowledge practices. Teachers may also create, manage, enrich, expand and adapt their own Personal Learning Environment or, what is the same, their PLE. 


  • Social engagement and perspective. We can divide this concept in two branches; 1) On one hand, the student education must also include ethical and social competences in the digital world so they have to be concern in using it in a responsible way. 2) On the other hand, teachers should be able to use technology to expand their relationship with students, family and also with the environment.


Being honest, I really believe that technology is a powerful tool that can help us too much in many different ways. Of course, as everything you have to be aware that you have to use it in a proper way. But if you would like to be a good teacher, you have to take the control of that and do your best for the most important people you are working for, your students.
